Bounce Infinity, a Bengaluru-based pioneer in electric scooters, has announced a new battery-swappable variant of its popular Infinity E1 scooter called Bounce Infinity E1X. With this variant, Bounce Infinity became the first OEM to have homologated and launched a scooter that is designed for Battery Swapping. The Infinity E1X will be available across the country from June 2024 and can be used with major battery swapping networks in India and can be customised to suit any new battery swapping network.

The battery-swapping feature allows users who travel long distances daily to continue their journeys uninterrupted. Users can swap their depleted batteries for fully charged ones at any network station, eliminating the need to worry about charging times and locations.

Bounce has introduced two-speed variant battery swapping models to cater to different user needs: up to 55 kmph and 65 kmph. These scooters are compatible with multiple battery-swapping networks and require minimal modifications for integration. Additionally, Bounce is developing a faster, 92 kmph variant to meet the minimum speed requirements in certain export markets.

Talking about the launch, Vivekananda Hallekare, CEO and Co-founder of Bounce Infinity, stated, “India is the world’s second-largest two-wheeler market, however, true benefits of EV haven’t been leveraged yet. EVs can allow a lot of innovation including making vehicles very affordable. One such benefit comes from separating the battery from the vehicle and asking the user to pay the upfront cost of the scooter only. E1X is designed to seamlessly plug into any battery swapping networks with minimal modifications.”

Priced at an introductory range of around ₹55,000 to ₹59,000 ex-showroom and with an energy cost of just ₹1 to ₹1.5 per kilometre depending on utilisation and the swapping operator, Infinity E1X will significantly reduce the cost of acquisition as well as give a very low running cost.

As per a McKinsey report electric two-wheelers are anticipated to dominate the two-wheeler market by 2030, representing 60 to 70 percent of new sales. FAME subsidies combined with growing consumer interest have acted as a catalyst to boost the adoption of electric vehicles in the country. Battery swapping further helps accelerate the transition as it provides a scalable and cost-effective solution for consumers.

By opting for battery-swappable EVs like the Bounce Infinity E1X, users can achieve nearly 40% savings compared to traditional IC engines or fixed-battery electric vehicles. This technology offers a familiar experience akin to refuelling at a gas station, with energy costs as low as ₹1 to ₹1.5 per kilometre, significantly lower than the ₹2.5 to ₹3 per kilometre for fuel vehicles. Customers will benefit from approximately 40% to 50% savings on the initial purchase price and up to 50% on operating costs. Additionally, battery swapping eliminates concerns such as battery warranty, replacement, and lifecycle management.

Bounce Infinity’s innovative swappable battery technology counters range anxiety by facilitating easy on-the-go battery swaps. The company’s mobile application assists riders in locating the nearest swapping station and checking battery charge levels. It also offers visibility on the real-time availability of batteries, ensuring no downtime upon arrival at the station.

Bounce Infinity recently partnered with Sun Mobility to deploy over 30,000 EVs in key markets across the country, starting with Bangalore and Hyderabad, and expanding to Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi NCR. By collaborating with industry leaders like SUN Mobility Bounce Infinity ensures seamless and efficient energy management for its users. Additionally, the company is working on finalising similar agreements with major food delivery, quick commerce, and last-mile delivery companies, further expanding its reach. The collaboration with Clean Electric highlights Bounce Infinity’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions in the electric vehicle ecosystem, solidifying its position as a leader in sustainable urban mobility.
