On Monday, Union Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan led a high-level review meeting to discuss the mental wellness of students in Indian schools and higher institutions. Attendees included senior officials from the school and higher education department, CBSE, AICTE, and UGC.

Pradhan addressed gender equality, caste sensitivity, academic pressure, and a robust counseling system, emphasizing that the ministry prioritizes students’ physical, psychological, and emotional well-being. The Minister requested an effective grievance redressal system and online suggestions from stakeholders.

To protect students’ mental and emotional well-being, the Ministry is preparing a comprehensive framework of operational guidelines, including the creation of an inclusive, integrative, and non-discriminatory environment, sensitization programs, early detection mechanisms, and effective grievance redressal. The framework will also emphasize physical fitness, nutrition, and personal monitoring by heads of institutions, faculty, and parents.
